Searching For a Horse Property

Horse Property Real Estates

With land at a premium, equestrian properties can be hard to come by. Registering with specialist companies who deal in equestrian homes can make your search much easier. These specialist agents can not only offer you a wider choice of horsey homes, but should also have a good knowledge and understanding of the types of properties that are acceptable for horses.

To help them find your horsey paradise you need to decide what your needs are. The first step is to let the agent know what's important to you.

Things To Consider When Buying Property

Where do you want to live

What you get for your money varies greatly in different areas

How much land do you need

Bear in mind one horse must have at least 1.5 acres. Add another acre for every additional horse and consider having extra land so you can rest and maintain your paddocks.

Consider the quality of the land

Check if it's really suitable for your horses. Neglected property could be difficult to revive.

Are existing stables essential or would you prefer to build your own

What is important to you?
It might be good off road hacking, having your own arena or access and parking for horse floats. Make a list of your priorities. Think carefully about any likes and dislikes that are vitally important to you but, be warned, you may need to be prepared to compromise.

Decide on your price limit. Be realistic and try not to overstretch yourself, you may want to build or improve stables, arenas, fencing, etc. Remember, you can always look for the potential the property has and make your own improvements to it.

And if your dreams of having your horse at home are just dreams, keep playing the lottery, you never know !
