Signs
Yawning, sleepiness, depraved appetite, irritability, uncordinated, twitching of head and neck muscles.
May stand for hours pushing against immovable objects, reluctant to lie down,
urine red to brown colour, mucous membranes may be jaundiced, over period of weeks extreme weight loss.
Cause
Poisonous native plant, Crotalaria retusa, found in rivers subject to flooding in Kimberley district
of Western Australia and Northern Territory.
Treatment
There is no treatment. Prevent by restricting access to the plant.
